The Strokes are an American indie rock band formed in 1999 in New York City. Consisting of Julian Casablancas (lead vocals), Nick Valensi(guitar), Albert Hammond, Jr. (guitar), Nikolai Fraiture (bass guitar) and Fabrizio Moretti (drums and percussion).

Upon the release of their debut album Is This It in 2001, the group met much critical acclaim.[2] Since then, the band has maintained a large fan base all over the world but mostly in the UK, US, France, Canada and Australia. A number of members have embarked on a variety of side projects, although a fourth album, entitled Angles, was released on March 22, 2011.[3] They are one of the most prominent indie-rock bands to hail from the U.S. at the dawn of the 21st century and helped start the garage-rock revival movement.

Solutions to better manage your data

KUALA LUMPUR: The Hewlett-Packard Co has introduced a suite of products and services that will allow organisations to manage their information better.

Damien Wong, general manager of HP software South-East Asia, said organisations are now overwhelmed with information.

"Generally, they manage their data in silos, which is inefficient and can make the information difficult to access quickly," he said.

The problem is even greater among Asia-Pacific organisations where about 82% of the major companies in the region do not enforce a universal information management protection policy, Wong said.

This policy acts as a guideline for organisations to help them decide what information to keep for a stipulated period of time, as well as how should that information be kept and protected.

Instead of managing data in silos, organisations would benefit more if they managed their information holistically. "A system needs to be in place to capture, monitor and protect the information, as well as efficiently retain and search for it," Wong said.

my comment:

Data management comprise all disciplines related to managing data as a valuable resource.
definition according to DAMA international data resource management is the development and execution of architecture, policies, practices and procedures that properly manage the full data lifecycle needs of an enterprise. Organisations generate, store and process large amounts of data. Data management is the management of this organisational memory. Individuals use data management techniques as well. Todo lists, calendars and address books are all examples of external memories (as opposed to our brain which is internal memory). These thre examples also share some common characteristics—they provide a standard format for storing specific kinds of information and they are organised in a way which accomodates rapid retrieval of information. They also requrie a trade-off between speed and size—a pocket calendar can not contain as much detailed information as a desk calendar but is far more conenient.

Organisations use all kinds of methods for storing data—filing cabinets, notice boards, computer systems and people are all frequently used. Storage devices are organised for rapid data entry and retrieval.
Various types of information systems can be used:

Transaction processing system
TPS—collects and stores data from routine transactions

Management information system
MIS—converts data from a TPS in to information for managing an organisation

Decision support system
DSS—supports managerial decision making by provifing models for processing and analysing data

Executive information system
—provides information helpful to senior management for strategic decision making and organisation performance monitoring

On-line analytical processing
OLAP—presents multidimensional logical views of data

Data Mining
-Uses statistical analysis to uncover hidden trends and relationships in data

Desirable atributes of data stored by an organisation include:
Shareable
The data can be accessed by more than one person at a time. Low-volatility data often has many copies printed and distributed, which can cause problems if changes are made.

Transportable
The data can easily be moved to the people who need to access it

Secure
Data is a valuable resource and must be kept safe. Backups should also be made of valuable data.

Accurate
The information must be reliable and precise

Timely
The data must be current and up-to-date, especially if it is time sensitive

Relevant
The data must be appropriate to the decisions being made by the organisation

An organisations memory exists in many different places, including inobvious areas such as the organisations roles and culture. Successfully designing and applying a data management solution is therefore a highly complex wicked problem.

GoFlex with more muscle

Seagate has a new member in its GoFlex family of external hard drives - called the GoFlex Home network storage system.

The GoFlex Home connects to a home wireless router via an Ethernet cable, and once connected, allows you to store, stream and backup your files wirelessly over the network.

Available in both 1TB and 2TB capacities, the GoFlex Home is compatible with DLNA-compliant devices (such as game consoles and video players).

The device is also modular, which means the hard drive can be upgraded by simply removing the drive from the base and then replacing it with another GoFlex Desk hard drive.

You can also add additional storage on top of the GoFlex hard drive by simply plugging in an external hard disk into the GoFlex Home's USB port. The USB port can also be used to share printers over the wireless network.

The GoFlex Home retails for RM488 for the 1TB version, while the 2TB costs RM688.

my comment:

wireless technologies include both wireless devices, such as smart phones, and wireless transmission media, such as microwave, satellite, and radio. these technologies are changing the ways organizations operate and do business.

individuals are finding it convenient and productive to use wireless network devices for several reasons, first, they can make productive use of time that was before wasted. for example, while commuting to work on public transportation.

second, because they can take these devices with them, their work locations are becoming much more flexible. third, wireless technology enbles them to allocate their working time around personal and professional obligations.

according to IS books wireless is a term to describe telecommunications in which electromagnetic waves, rather than some form of wire or cable, carry signal between communicating devices.in many situations, the traditional working environment that requires users to come to a wired computer is either ineffective or in efficient. in these situations, the solution is only to use computers that are small enough to carry or wear, which can communicate via wireless networks.the ability to communicate anytime anywhere provides organizations with strategic advantages by increasing productivity and speed and improving customer service.

wireless technology and mobile commerce are spreading rapidly, replacing wired computing. in some cases, wireless technologies are allowing countries to build a communications infrastructure from scratch.

PETALING JAYA: Four years after Cybersecurity Malaysia was accepted as a participating member of the Common Criteria Recognition Arrangement (CCRA), it is now an authorising member.

This means that Cybersecurity Malaysia labs can now evaluate and certify IT products as ISO standard 15408, which is regarded as the international benchmark for IT security evaluations.

This standard addresses product functionality, development environ-ment, documentation, and product-testing measures. The certification is recognised in 26 countries including the United States, Britain, South Korea, Japan and Germany.

The official announcement was made at the opening ceremony of the 12th International Common Criteria Conference here.

Science, Technology and Innova-tion Minister, Datuk Seri Maximus Ongkili said the acceptance will uplift Malaysia as a regional centre for security evaluation and certification of ICT products.

my comment:

Electric commerce or e-commerce can be describe as the process of buying, selling, transferring, or exchanging products, services, or information via computer networks, including the internet. E-commerce can take several forms. It can relate to:

1. The product or service being sold.
2. The process by which the product or service is produced.
3. The delivery agent or intermediary.

Or we can say that the product can be physical or digital. The process can be physical or digital and the delivery agent can be physical or digital. According to some books in traditional commerce all three dimensions are physical. For example, buying car at mudah.my or a book from Amazon.com is part of e-commerce, because the merchandise is physically delivered by poslaju or FedEx or any delivery company.
There are several types of e-commerce which is:

1. C2C
2. B2E
3. G2C
4. B2C
5. B2B
6. C2C

Lets discuss just three of it only.

Consumer-to-consumer (C2C)

C2C is an individuals sells products or services to other indiciduals. The major strategies to conduct C2C on the internet are auctions and classified ads. Most auctions are conducted by intermediaries, for example eBay. Consumers can select general sites such as www.auctionanything.com. In addition, many indiciduals are conducting their own auctions.

Business-to-employee (B2C)

In B2C, an organization uses e-commerce internally to provide information and services to its employee. Companies allow employees to manage their benefits and take training classes electronically. Moreover, employees can buy discounted insurance, travel packages, and tickets to event on the coporate intranet.

Government-to-consumer (G2C)

G2C uses e-commerce in particular to deliver information and public services to citizen. It is also an efficient way of conducting business transactions with citizens and within the governments themselves. G2C electronic commerce is electronic benefits transfer, in which governments transfer benefits, such as social security and pension payments, directly to recipient’s bank accounts.

What is Information System?

Information systems is a combination of hardware, software, infrastructure and trained personnel organized to facilitate planning, control, coordination, and decision making in an organization. The area of managing technology that inclusde computer software, information systems, computer hardware, programming languages but are not limited to things such as processes, and data constructs. In short, anything that renders data, information or perceived knowledge in any visual format whatsoever, via any multimedia distribution mechanism, is considered part of the IS domain. IS provides businesses with four sets of core services to help execute the business strategy: business process automation, providing information, connecting with customers, and productivity tools.

Modern business organizations become more and more dependent on their information systems to deal with the complexity and changeability of the context (markets) in which they operate and consequently their internal organization structures. Up to date, complete and accurate information has become a necessity to survive in an increasingly competitive wrold. Developments like dynamic cooperation networks, mass customization of products and services, and end-to-end process control require automated means to control operational business processes, for the simple reason that humans cannot oversee the entire operation in an efficient and effective way anymore. Consequently, business requirements to information systems increase at a dazzling pace.

There are various typse of information systems, for example: transaction processing systems, office systems, decision support systems, knowledge management systems, database management systems, and office information systems. Critical to most information systems are information technologies, which are typically designed to enable humans to perform tasks for which the human brain is not well suited, such as: handling large amounts of information, performing complex calculations, and controlling many simultaneous processes.

This is what i'm interested with =)

Everybody has different hobbies that we enjoy and do it for fun or relaxation. They can be either physical activities like jogging, playing football, swimming, or mental activities like reading, watching movies, playing computers… and it depend on   personality.  My bobby is football because it’s part of my life and I cannot live without it and I have playing this sport since I was a little boy.  Nowadays looks like everybody is playing football and it most popular sport in the world, many of the boys like me who is dreaming to be a good football player one day. I  have grown up with the ball and nothing has changed. My parents told me that I liked kicking the ball around when I was only  two years old and had so much fun.

Since then playing football is my favorite thing to do and I go everyday to play  It with my friend so I can enjoy myself. It is interesting and amazing especially when I have a ball under my feet or score a goal. I like to train shooting on a goal when I‘m not doing anything else it helps me to relax and clear my mind if I have stress or other problems.   For instant after school or studying I feel boring or tired however having fun with the ball shooting it on goal or trying to do some tricks, all of my tirenes die out. Football is not only about passing and kicking the ball but also required a lot of thoughts, and some basic skills.

I often practice and I feel healthy and stronger. Beside that football have also taught me very much like be teamwork, athletes, healthy and much more. I am not only enjoy play football, I also enjoy watching   football games on TV. My favorite team is Arsenal or also known as the gunners. I am so happy when Arsenal wins but it is sad to watch your team when they lose, and I love to watch them playing pationately. Other than playing football I also like to play guitar on my free time. I don’t think I going to talk about guitar because not so many people like to hear about it.

Some other children might get interested in less active activities like reading, painting, or stamp collecting. While some others might enjoy playing an instrument like the piano or the flute.
As we get older, our hobbies might change or they might not. Some people who collected stamps as a child might still be collecting stamps when they are 80. Other people might change their interests every year depending on fashion. Some people are lucky that they have found professions that are similar to their hobbies, like the weekend gardener who works as a landscaper or the kid who loves computers and becomes a programmer.

Some of the most popular hobbies include watching TV or videos, reading books, magazines and newspapers, playing a musical instrument, singing in a choir or listening to music. Lots of people like travelling as a hobby. Many people like to join sports clubs where they practice gymnastics, basketball, volleyball, swimming, handball or judo. The main goal of a hobby is to give youself an enjoyable break from your everyday work or school. A hobby is something you should do only for yourself.
